Indoor Air Quality Solutions
The U.S. EPA reports that there is a growing body of scientific evidence establishing that the air within homes and other buildings can be more seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities. The U.S. EPA also reports that since people spend approximately 90% of their time indoors, for many people, the health risks from exposure to air pollution may be greater indoors than outdoors (EPA Guide). These pollutions include, but are not limited to, various environmental pollutants such as pollen, mold, pet dander, dust mites, radon, and volatile organic compounds (VOC’s). Exposure to these and other air borne pollutants can often irritate allergies, trigger asthma attacks, cause headaches, or lead to other adverse health effects. This is often known as “sick building syndrome.” One of the best ways to minimize these health effects is to reduce exposure to the pollutants; and one of the best ways to eliminate air borne contaminants is through a properly and professionally designed ventilation system.
